Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In a robust response to immigration violations, the Bali Immigration Office has imposed deportation sanctions on a staggering 289 foreign nationals from 55 different countries, between January and 13 November 2023, , a significant increase from the 188 expelled last year.
According to Romi Yudianto, Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office (Kemenkumham) in Bali, these foreign nationals, now on the denial list, faced deportation for various reasons, including but not limited to violating immigration rules. The majority of the deported individuals have been repatriated to their home countries, with 66 still under detention at the Immigration Detention House).
Breaking down the statistics provided by the Bali Regional Office of Kemenkumham, Russian nationals top the list with 73 deportations, followed by the 21 Americans, 17 Australians and 17 British,13 Chinese and 10 Nigerians.
The grounds for deportation include the abuse or overstay of permits, criminal activities, and violations of Indonesian laws and norms. These actions are in clear defiance of the Government Regulation No. 31/2023, which serves as the implementing regulation for the Immigration Law Number 6 of 2011.
Detained foreign nationals in Bali facing deportation under Article 209 of Government Regulation may experience administrative actions, including the cancellation of residence permits, for legal violations or disturbances to security. Article 214 allows a detention period of up to 10 years if immediate deportation is not possible. Article 7 of Ministerial Regulation M.05.IL.02.01, regulates the welfare of the detainees including the food, bedding, healthcare, and spiritual guidance for them.
Moreover, Article 102 of Immigration Law N0 6/2011 stipulates that deported individuals may be denied re-entry for six months initially, extendable, or face lifelong denial if identified as a threat to public security by the Directorate General of Immigration.
