inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized the importance of infrastructure in realizing food security and self-sufficiency.
"This is a very good forum as we were discussing how we can together realize food security and self-sufficiency. This is a priority for President Prabowo Subianto," said Coordinating Minister AHY on Friday (3/14/2025).
According to Coordinating Minister AHY, various efforts must be made to support food security, one of which is through strengthening the infrastructure.
The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR), the Ministry of Transportation, and other stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure supports the agricultural sector.
"The dam must have a real impact, there must be primary, secondary, and tertiary irrigation connections, so that it can irrigate agricultural land and increase productivity," said Coordinating Minister AHY.
In addition to food security, he also explained the priority plan for infrastructure development in East Java, which is adjusted to central government policies and urgent needs at the provincial and district/city levels.
Several regional heads who attended the forum also conveyed the aspirations of the community, especially regarding road conditions, connectivity, and citizen mobility.
"We also have to pay attention to the impact of extreme weather that often causes flooding which makes it necessary to strengthen infrastructure in areas that are vulnerable to disasters," said Coordinating Minister AHY.
He hopes that optimal infrastructure development will not only accelerate economic growth, but also strengthen food security and improve the welfare of society as a whole.
