Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasized the government's commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in Papua. This was revealed at a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with Governors from the Papua region.

"The current agenda is a synchronization between the Central and Regional Governments throughout Papua," he said, as reported by RRI on Thursday (10/23/2025).

He explained that four issues were discussed at the meeting.

First, the development of strategic areas and new economic zones. Then, the acceleration of the development of the Trans Papua infrastructure as the backbone of land connectivity.

Next, the integration of air and sea connectivity to streamline logistics and mobility between regions. Finally, the development of residential areas and transmigration along the Trans Papua corridor.

"These four important agendas certainly won't be completed in one Coordination Meeting," he said.

The Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua, Velix Vernando Wanggai, supported Coordinating Minister AHY's statement. He stated that synergy between the Central Government and Regional Governments is needed to accelerate development in Papua.

"Through coordination meetings, we can convey the obstacles faced in the Papua region," he said.

Velix Vernando Wanggai stated that the Central Government's support will help address issues in efforts to accelerate development in Papua.
