inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) says strengthening connectivity is key to driving economic growth, while also maintaining environmental sustainability.
"I think there are still many more important things for me to address. What is clear is that we must strengthen connectivity. This includes inter-regional connectivity, including through multimodal transportation on land, sea, air, and rail," he said, as reported by RRI, Saturday (August 23, 2025).
According to him, the development roadmap must accommodate the interests of the wider community, especially in terms of mobility.
He said that strengthening connectivity must also be directed at opening new centers of economic growth.
"For example, mobility must be faster and more affordable, both for the transportation of people, goods, and services. Most importantly, how transportation or connectivity opens up new locations for economic growth and regional development," he explained.
Furthermore, he said that transportation-based development concepts such as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) can be a solution for sustainable growth. These efforts can also contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
"This development of certain locations as transportation hubs and also as places to live and work. So this also supports today's spirit of sustainability," AHY concluded.
