Inp.polri.go.id - Malang.  In a significant development following the tragic crash of two Air Force Super Tucano tactical fighter aircraft in Pasuruan district, East Java, on Thursday, the Air Force has confirmed the recovery of flight data recorders from both crashed aircraft. Air Commodore R. Agung Sasongkojati, the Chief of the Air Force Information Service, said on Saturday (18/11/2023) that the recovered devices included video data recorders and network-centric data cartridges, antaranews.com reported. These critical components will be transported to the Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base for further analysis. "The equipment from the two planes has been recovered," he said, expressing his optimism that the data retrieved from the recorders would provide valuable insights into the causes of the aircraft accidents. The flight recorders store a wide range of data, including flight videos, pilot communications and details of the aircraft's performance, speed, altitude and engine condition prior to the crashes. "We cannot just look at the engines when investigating (incidents involving) modern aircraft. Instead, we have to take into account the condition of the crew, the machinery, the mission, the management and the weather," Commodore Sasongkojati explained. As part of the investigation process, he urged the public to come forward with any videos or images that may capture the aircraft's manoeuvres, especially when flying over mountainous areas. This additional visual information could prove crucial in piecing together the events leading up to the tragic crashes. The two Super Tucano aircraft, identified by tail numbers TT-3111 and TT-3103, crashed during a routine training mission, resulting in the tragic deaths of Air Commodore Subhan, Air Commodore Widiono Hadiwijaya, Colonel Sandhra Gunawan and Lieutenant Colonel Yuda A. Seta. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
