Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) assured the public about abundant rice supplies ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2024.
Bulog Director Bayu Krisnamurthi stated on Tuesday (2 /4/2024) that all retail outlets have been replenished, simplifying rice procurement and averting price hikes due to shortages, with only eight days remaining until Eid al-Fitr.
He confirmed that Bulog's warehouses are fully stocked, ensuring a steady rice supply after the importation of 650 thousand tons of rice, as reported by antaranews.com.
Bulog has also secured contracts for an additional 350 thousand tons, out of a total quota of 3.6 million tons for the year. This import strategy was crucial to mitigate potential declines in domestic rice production, Bayu explained.
The decision to import rice aligned with the government's directive through the National Food Agency (Bapanas) to stabilize rice supply and prices. The objective was to maintain affordability for consumers, with a maximum retail price of Rp 53,000 per 5 kg. The targeted distribution of rice for 2024 is set at 1.2 million tons nationwide.
