"The Karawang Sub-regional Police are committed to remaining present among the community. Since the past week, personnel have remained on standby at flood locations and evacuation centers," said the Head of Public Relations for the Karawang Sub-regional Police, Second Police Inspector Cep Wildan, as reported by antaranews, Tuesday (1/27/2026).

Wildan stated that as long as the rainfall intensity remains high, police will remain on standby. This is especially true with the current high levels of the Citarum and Cibeet Rivers.

He urged residents living in flood-prone areas to continuously monitor developments in their surroundings and immediately report any significant increase in water levels to officers.

Karawang Sub-regional Police is committed to remaining present among the community, continuously monitoring the situation, and collaborating with relevant agencies to ensure the safety and health of residents during the flood emergency response period.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Karawang Regional Disaster Management Agency, flooding has hit several areas in Karawang due to the overflowing Citarum and Cibeet Rivers, as well as several other rivers in Karawang.

As of Tuesday, 20 villages across eight sub-districts surrounding Karawang were reportedly affected by flooding.

A total of 2,997 homes inhabited by 3,109 families were inundated. This situation has forced thousands of flood-affected residents to evacuate to safer areas.
