Inp.polri.go.id - Surakarta. Arema FC has won the 2024 President’s Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout against Borneo FC at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday (4/8/2024).
Arema FC triumphed 5-4 in the shootout, according to antaranews.com.
The victory was Arema FC’s fourth President’s Cup title since the tournament began in 2015.
Maruarar Sirait, Chairman of the 2024 President’s Cup Steering Committee, announced that Arema FC earned Rp 5.25 billion, while Borneo FC received Rp 2.75 billion.
“From the group stages in Bandung to the matches in Bali and the final in Solo, the tournament was conducted peacefully and securely,” he said.
He added that the tournament has been able to maintain its integrity without match-fixing or referee bribery.
The President’s Cup was fully funded by private sponsors, with no government money used.
“We collected Rp 79 billion in sponsorships over 17 days, reflecting exceptional support and a strong football ecosystem,” Maruarar added.
