Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Indonesians to postpone travel to Lebanon, Iran, and Israel due to worsening security conditions on Sunday (4/8/2024).
The Ministry also advises Indonesians currently in Lebanon to leave until the situation stabilizes, according to antaranews.com.
For their safety, Indonesians are encouraged to follow emergency measures outlined by Indonesian diplomatic missions. Assistance can be sought from the Indonesian embassies in Beirut (+961-7-0817-310), Tehran (+989-0-2466-8889), Amman (+962-7-7915-0407), or the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (+62-812-9007-0027).
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated following a rocket attack on the Golan Heights on 27 July 2024, which killed 12 people. Israel has blamed Hezbollah for the attack, though the group denies involvement.
The security situation along the Israel-Lebanon border, already tense from Israel’s military actions in Gaza in October 2023, has deteriorated further with daily clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters.
In light of these tensions, several countries, including the United States, Canada, Poland, and Sweden, have also advised their citizens to leave Lebanon. The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut recommended on 29 July 2024 that Indonesian nationals consider departing Lebanon while commercial flights are available, as some airlines have begun suspending flights due to the escalating crisis.
