inp.polri.go.id - Bintang Mountains. An Armed Criminal Group (KKB) burned down the Kiwirok State Junior High School in Sopamikma Village, Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Tuesday (10/7/2025).

Around 16 unidentified people were seen burning down the educational facility. The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force together with the Yonif RK 753 Border Security Task Force, the Prayuda Task Force (Mamta), the BAIS Task Force, the Rajawali Task Force and the Kiwirok Sector Police immediately moved to the location, but unfortunately the perpetrators had fled towards Delpem Village.

To prevent further action, the team then secured Mangoldolki Village, which is not far from the scene, to anticipate the burning of Kiwirok State Elementary School.

The Head of the Damai Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, strongly condemned the arson.

"The attack on the school is a heinous act that directly harms the future of Papua. This is not only a crime against the state, but also a human rights violation. We will continue to hunt down the perpetrators and ensure the Kiwirok area remains safe," said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani on Tuesday (10/7/2025).

He stated that this is not the first time the Kiwirok State Junior High School building has been targeted by the armed criminal group (KKB). In 2021, the same school was also burned by the group.

"Since then, teachers and students have been forced to move to Oksibil 1 State Junior High School in Oksibil City," he said.

Vice Chief of Damai Cartenz Operations, Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and not be easily provoked.

He confirmed that his party will remain firm in maintaining security, protecting the community, and enforcing the law in Papua.
