Armed Forces and Police Deploy 400 Personnel to Secure Boven Digoel Re-election

inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. 400 personnel of Armed Forces and Police are now on standby to secure the Re-election of Regent and Vice Regent of Boven Digoel Regency, Papua. Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, confirmed that those personnel are on standby in Tanah Merah, the regency's capital. Besides, Papua Regional Police has sent its primary officials to observe re-election on Saturday (17/7/2021) directly. "Until now, there has been no significant report from Boven Digoel Departmental Police", Chief of Papua Regional Police said in Jayapura on Friday (16/7/2021). Chief of Papua Regional Police also added that his personnel also involves in the escort of ballots. Re-election in Boven Digoel is followed by three pairs of regent and vice-regent candidates: Martinus Wagi - Isak Bangri, Lukas Ikwaron - Lexi Wagju, and Chaerul Anwar - Nathalis Kaket. There are 36,882 voters registered to vote in 201 polling stations spread across 20 districts and 107 villages.
