Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Korean Republic will be ASEAN’s future partner, specifically on energy transition and digital transformation, says Indonesian President Jokowi during the 24th ASEAN-Korean Republic Summit in Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/6/2023).

Jokowi adds that the Southeast Asia countries have learned a lot from Korean Republic in reducing fossil energy dependency by transitioning to renewable energy. “The dependency of ASEAN for fossil energy is 78% which we need to reduce,” says Jokowi. Jokowi also appreciates the support of Korean Republic for ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF), proving concrete act in preserving peace and prosperity in the region. On that occasion, Jokowi also remind the digital transformation implementation must be able to push economic growth in the region. “At the same time, in the next decade, digital economy of ASEAN GDP predicted able to give 1 trillion USD to the region’s GDP,” Jokowi adds. However, adopting energy transition and digital transformation requires huge fund. Many digital transfers that are required for every ASEAN state member.
