inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto outlined Indonesia's priority programs, ranging from the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG), Danantara, and the commitment to eradicating corruption, at the US Chamber of Commerce business forum in Washington, D.C., United States (US).
Addressing US businesspeople, President Prabowo emphasized that his administration is focused on delivering tangible benefits to the people while creating a stable and trustworthy investment climate.
"I am implementing the MBG Program, which I learned from American and European experiences. I understand that this is a concrete part of the democratization process. Real democracy must be directly felt by the people through education and health services," President Prabowo explained on Thursday (2/19/2026).
He explained that the MBG program not only impacts children's nutritional needs but also stimulates economic growth. Currently, there are 23,000 MBG kitchens operating in various villages. Each kitchen employs around 50 people, primarily housewives who previously had no income.
This program also creates a multiplier effect in the agriculture and livestock sectors. Every kitchen needs a supply of eggs, chicken, vegetables, and other food ingredients, thus providing market certainty for local farmers and livestock breeders.
Furthermore, President Prabowo introduced the establishment of a sovereign wealth fund, or the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI), as part of the national industrial downstreaming strategy.
"We have just established a new sovereign wealth fund called Danantara. We have consolidated all state-owned assets into this investment management agency to encourage industrial downstreaming," said President Prabowo.
He openly acknowledged serious challenges in governance, including corruption and illegal economic activity. However, he reiterated his commitment to confronting and eradicating them head-on.
"We have problems with governance, corruption, and institutional weaknesses. A lot of bribing is going on. There are many illegal economic activities such as illegal mining, illegal fishing, and illegal plantations in protected forests. These are long-standing problems, but I choose to confront them head-on," President Prabowo asserted.
