Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Reigning MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) won the Sprint race at the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika Circuit on Saturday (28/9/2024).
Bagnaia finished ahead of teammate Enea Bastianini and eight-time world champion Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing), who completed the podium, as reported by antaranews.com.
Bastianini and Marquez trailed by 0.107 and 1.701 seconds, respectively. Starting from fourth, Bagnaia quickly overtook young riders Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46) and Pedro Acosta (GASGAS Tech3) to grab the lead.
Bagnaia then faced a tight battle with polesitter Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing). Martin crashed on the first lap, dropping to 12th place and clearing the way for Bagnaia.
Marc Marquez staged an impressive comeback from 14th, securing a strong position behind the Ducati riders. On the final lap, Bastianini overtook Marquez, sealing a 1-2 finish for Ducati.
The top 10 finishers included Bezzecchi, Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac), Acosta, Maverick Vinales (Aprilia), Johann Zarco (LCR Honda), Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46), and Martin.
The main race is scheduled for Sunday.
