Inp.polri.go.id - Bakauheni. The Quarantine Office has foiled the smuggling of 2,830 undocumented birds at the executive dock of the Bakauheni Port, South Lampung.
The Head of the Quarantine Office in Bakauheni, Akhir Santoso, confirmed that the joint team of his office, the military, the police and the Flight Protecting Birds had seized the wild birds from Palembang, South Sumatra, destined for delivery to Serang, Banten.
The team, which conducted the surveillance patrols, received information that there would be a bird shipment to Java Island through the Bakauheni Port, antaranews.com reported.
"At around 5.43 pm, the officers found a vehicle matching the description entering the executive dock, and during the inspection of the vehicle, dozens of baskets containing undocumented wild birds were found. After that, the vehicle and the birds were taken to the Bakauheni Quarantine Office for identification and further examination," Akhir said on Saturday (17/2/2024). .
He explained that no protected birds were found.during the inspection of the vehicle,.
"These birds have been handed over to the BKSDA Lampung and released in the forest area of Way Kalam, South Lampung," he said, referring to the the Natural Resources Conservation Agency.
