Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Hospital Ship Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992 has concluded its humanitarian endeavor in Egypt, aiming to aid Palestinians in Gaza, and has been gearing up to journey back to home on Saturday (17/2/2024).
According to the Navy Information Service's official announcement, the 214-strong team, including 40 from the Navy, unloaded 242 tons of aid packages at the El Arish Port in Egypt, antaranews.com reported.
The unloading process spanned four days since the ship's arrival at El Arish Port on Tuesday. Aid packages were sorted and repackaged for onward transport by trucks from the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Rafah border in Gaza.
El Arish, situated in Sinai, Egypt, adjacent to the Rafah border, serves as a crucial hub for gathering humanitarian assistance from various countries, including Indonesia, to support the Palestinian populace enduring the aftermath of Israeli aggression.
Departing Jakarta on 18 January 2024, the ship carried 242 tons of aid, encompassing various essentials such as diapers, clothing for children and adults, milk, biscuits, mineral water, medicines, blankets, jackets, and instant noodles.
The mission marked the Dr. Radjiman ship's maiden voyage beyond Indonesian waters, extending a helping hand to those in need across the seas.
