Police Follow Up on Wings Air Shooting Case at Dekai Airport

Inp.polri.go.id - Yahukimo. Yahukimo Sub-regional Police has been investigating the shooting case involving Wings Air plane IW 1646 ATR 700 PK WG at Nop Goliat Dekai Airport in Yahukimo Regency, on Saturday (17/2/2024).
The Head of Public Relations Unit of the Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that the incident occurred around 1.20 pm when the aircraft was preparing to land from Runway 25 towards the end of Kali Brasa.
"Information we received indicates that the aircraft was shot on the left side, penetrating into the fuselage. Although there were no fatalities, passenger First Private Ongen suffered minor injuries from the aircraft wall fragments," he said.
Security forces from Damai Cartenz 2024 Opearton, along with Mobile Brigade officers from and Yahukimo Police, were investigating around the Kali Brasa area at the airport.
"We have conducted a crime scene investigation and questioned the aircraft crew. We are also coordinating with relevant authorities to follow up on this case and pursue the shooter," Chief Benny said,
