Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Singaraja Immigration Office in Bali deported an Australian identified as PVB for misusing his visa by promoting a villa on social media.

PVB entered Indonesia using a Visa on Arrival (VoA), which only permits tourism-related activities. His promotional efforts were deemed a business activity, which requires a different visa type, as reported by antaranews.com..

“We hope this sends a clear message that visa misuse will not be tolerated,” said Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, theHead of Bali’s Regional Office for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, on Friday.

Authorities monitored the activities of the Australian, identified as PVB, through digital channels, including social media platforms, before arresting him.

Singaraja Immigration Office Head Hendra Setiawan said that foreigner surveillance involves both field inspections and online monitoring.

PVB was deported from Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and is now banned from reentering Indonesia for six months, with the option for an extension.

Since January, Bali Immigration Office has deported 412 foreigners for various violations, including overstaying and misuse of stay permits, compared to 335 in 2023. Most deportees were from Taiwan, Russia, China and the U.S.
