Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Bali Regional Police is prepared to secure 306 churches across the island for Christmas 2023, implementing preventive measures against potential terrorism threats, stated Police Senior Superintendent Soelistijono, Head of Bali Regional Police's Operational Bureau, on Thursday (21/12).
"To preempt potential terrorist threats, the Bali Regional Police deploys a specialized bomb disposal team to thoroughly secure these locations before their use," he stated.
Sterilization and security rings 1, 2, and 3 will be applied to larger churches, with the process starting two days before the event and extending through the Christmas and New Year's celebrations.
Security priorities extend to tourist attractions and New Year's Eve event venues, including Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Kuta Beach, and the Bali Bombing Monument (Ground Zero) in Kuta.
To ease traffic congestion in Kuta and North Kuta, the Bali Regional Police is employing traffic engineering with intermittent road closures. "Traffic engineering operates intermittently in these areas. If congestion occurs, we redirect traffic; when conditions improve, we reopen routes," he explained.
