Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Heavy rainfall over the past few days has caused severe flooding in Bandung Regency, West Java, submerging 8,043 homes across four districts.
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Bandung Chief Uka Suska confirmed on Sunday (9/3/2025) that the floods were triggered by the overflow of the Cikapundung Kolot River, which also impacted the Citarum River. The affected areas include Dayeuhkolot, Bojongsoang, Baleendah, and Margahayu districts, according to antaranews.com.
As many as six schools, 19 places of worship, and 13 public facilities were inundated. The breach of the Cikapundung Kolot embankment worsened the situation, preventing water from flowing into the Citarum River.
At least 246 families, or 635 people, have evacuated to emergency shelters. BPBD Bandung has set up safe tents and coordinated with the Health Office to ensure evacuees’ well-being. Aid distribution includes food, clean water, and sanitation support.
Authorities urge residents to stay alert, as the rainy season is expected to last until April.
