Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) assures that the food quality in Kosambi Market, Bandung City is free from any dangerous chemicals. The statement came following a sample test on several foods by Bapanas, Regional Government, and Indonesian National Police (INP) Food Task Force.

"According to our sample test, we did find formalin and borax residues in several foods that we test. Thankfully, in this city, the food is in good condition," said the Director of Food Stock Indra Wijayanto on Wednesday (8/7/2024).

Indra reveals that officials conduct quick testing on Kosambi Market fresh food, such as shallots, garlic, curly red chilies, red cayenne peppers, and carrots showed negative results from pesticides. Then the medium and premium rice samples were also negative for chlorine and aflatoxin.

Formaldehyde residues were not found in samples of mackerel and chicken meat. These two samples were also negative for the heavy metals lead and borax.

"We have tested the food from chicken meat, fish, even rice, in collaboration with mobile food safety laboratory vehicles in Bandung City," said Director Indra.

He also appreciates the Bandung City Government for using e-WasMut app, an application that stored the data about the food quality monitoring could be accessed digitally.

Other than testing the food, the review was also to monitor the food supplies in the region to control the inflation. As of July 2024, the national inflation is still under control, implicating positive signs for the strategic food supply situation.
