Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) confirmed that an ATR 400 aircraft operated by Indonesia Air Transport carrying 11 people lost contact over Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (17/1/2026) during a flight from Yogyakarta to Makassar.
The incident was reported by AirNav Indonesia at 1.17 pm, prompting an immediate search operation.
“Basarnas Makassar deployed search teams immediately after receiving the report from AirNav Indonesia,” said Basarnas Deputy for Operations and Preparedness Edy Prakoso, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The aircraft was last detected near the Leang-Leang area of Maros, with coordinates provided by AirNav. A total of 25 SAR personnel were mobilized and divided into three teams to conduct ground and aerial searches. The operation involves rescue vehicles, a personnel truck, and drone support to locate the aircraft and assess conditions.
Authorities are coordinating closely with aviation stakeholders as the search continues.
