inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) will oversee several crucial things during the 2024 Regional Head Election debate session. The step is to make sure that the debate session will go according to the rules and fair for all candidates.

Member of Bawaslu, Puadi, says that in overseeing the debate session, his party will first urge all election participants to comply with the campaign regulations. Bawaslu will monitor whether the election candidates and their campaign candidates are complying with the election campaign regulations, including ethics of expressing opinions, not personally attacking their opponents, and not spreading hoaxes or hate speech.

“Second is neutrality of the election organizers and moderators. Bawaslu assures that the organizing committee and debate moderators will remain neutral and not support any of the election candidates,” says Puadi on Monday (7/10/2024).

Third is the utilization of state facilities. Bawaslu will make sure that no state facilities are used by the incumbent candidate or any party during the debate process.

Then, fourth, is a fair distribution of time. Bawaslu will ensure that each candidate gets the same and fair speaking time in accordance with the rules set by the organizers.

Fifth, black and negative campaigns. Bawaslu will monitor whether there are any attacks that lead to black campaigns involving sensitive issues or invalid information.

Sixth, the behavior of supporters. In addition to candidates, the behavior of supporters is also monitored to ensure there are no violations, such as riots or disruptions to the debate.

"The main objective of Bawaslu's supervision is to maintain the integrity of the debate and ensure that the process is transparent, honest, and in accordance with applicable regulations," said Puadi Member.
