Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Deputy Governor of Indonesian Bank (BI) Juda Agung says BI will strengthen their cyber security national currency system infrastructure as the cyberattack against Financial Services is increasing in 2023.
“BI will drive the improvement of cyber security, both in BI and in industry, for smooth payment systems and data security are important to maintain public trust,” says Juda on Monday (10/23/2023).
Currently BI is formulating end to end cyber security, from cyber management handling in industry, preventive measures, resolutions during the attack, and coordination mechanism with Financial Services Authority (OJK).
“We have the forum to regularly evaluate the cyber security in the industry,” says Juda.
Other than disruptions in the system, according to him the cyberattack on system infrastructure will also cause the decline in public trust on finance system.
On this year, several institutions who manage finance service in Indonesia that has been attacked by cyberattack include Bank Syariah Indonesia Inc., BFI Finance Indonesia Inc., to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.
State of the Internet in their reports titled The High Stakes of Innovation: Attack Trends in Financial Services listed finance services in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) was under attack by 3.7 billion cyber attack from 2022 Second Quarter to 2023 Second Quarter. This mark as the highest attack in the world.
