Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. House of Representatives (DPR) is set to undergo reform led directly by Speaker Puan Maharani, Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad confirmed on Wednesday (3/9/2025).
The move follows mounting public criticism and student protests demanding greater accountability from lawmakers, according to antaranews.com.
“Reform of the DPR will be led directly by Speaker Puan Maharani,” Deputy Speaker Dasco told representatives of the Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) during a meeting at the DPR complex.
He said DPR leaders had agreed to evaluate salaries and allowances, impose a moratorium on overseas and domestic working trips, and support the establishment of an investigative team into alleged treason. The DPR also pledged to push forward the Asset Seizure Bill.
Fellow Deputy Speaker Saan Mustopa acknowledged public discontent with the legislature, citing the recent abolition of housing allowances for members on August 26. All reforms will be communicated to the public.
