inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo stressed that procurement of contraceptives must be on target.

“Youths who are about to get married must remember that the law allows them to buy contraceptives if they are aged 15-17 and married. Therefore, those who were given the contraceptives should not be those who are still in junior high or are not married yet,” said Hasto on Wednesday (8/7/2024).

The statement was given in response to the procurement of contraceptives to youths as was stated in Article 103 Government Regulation Number 28 of 2024 concerning Implementing Regulations of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health.

He also underscores that the procurement of contraceptives also have to be in line with religious norms.

“The procurement of contraceptives also has to take the consideration of religious norms. If they have not married yet, they should take a vow not to do any sexual intercourse before marriage,” continued Hasto.

Moreover, regarding the ever changing times and trends, Hasto reminds parents to teach their children according to the present times, not the past.
