Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang.  The Blora Sub-regional have named three suspects in connection with the explosion and fire at an illegal oil well in Dukuh Gendono, Gandu Village, Bogorejo District, Bora,  Central Java, which killed four people and injured a toddler.

“Suspect SPR (46) is the landowner and initiator, suspect ST (45) is the prospective investor, and suspect SHRT alias GD (42) is the driller,” Blora Police Chief Superintendent Wawan Andi Susanto said during a press briefing on Thursday (28/82/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The fire broke out on 17 August 2025 after a loud blast was heard from behind suspect SPR’s house. Crude oil flowing through a ditch ignited, spreading to nearby homes, killing livestock, and leaving multiple victims. Four residents died from severe burns, while a two-year-old child remains hospitalized in Yogyakarta.

Police seized drilling equipment, pumps, and storage tanks as evidence. 

The suspects face charges under the Oil and Gas Law and the Criminal Code, carrying penalties of up to six years in prison and fines of Rp 60 billion.
