“We are deploying K9 units to confirm the information in the Cisarua area,” Cimahi Police Chief Superintendent Niko Nurullah said, adding that the step was taken to provide certainty and prevent public anxiety.
Authorities from West Java Regional Police also joined the operation, while the Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers were seen at the zoo. As of 3 pm, police vehicles and K9 units were stationed inside the facility, according to antaranews.com
The zoo has been temporarily closed to visitors, with security staff asking would-be guests to cancel entry. Chief Niko emphasized that police will ensure public safety and coordinate with local communities should the escape be confirmed.
Initial reports suggested the leopard disappeared near Cisarua, but checks are still underway to determine the accuracy of the claim.
