Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that most major cities in Indonesia will experience light rain to thunderstorms on Monday (23/2/2026).
Meteorologist Lintang A. N. noted that while light rain is expected in cities like Medan, Bandung, and Makassar, several regions face a high risk of severe weather conditions.
"Thunderstorms are likely to occur in Tanjung Pinang, Jakarta, Semarang, and Banjarmasin, as well as eastern regions including Denpasar and Nabire," he said in a written statement, as cited by antaranews.com.
The BMKG has issued a specific warning for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Riau Islands, Central Java, East Java, Bali, and parts of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Meanwhile, moderate rain is forecasted for Serang and Surabaya, while Banda Aceh and Pekanbaru are expected to remain under thick cloud cover.
Residents in high-risk zones are urged to remain alert for potential hydro-meteorological impacts, such as localized flooding or slippery roads, during their Monday commute.
