Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a nationwide weather alert, warning that thunderstorms may hit most regions of the country on Sunday (14/12/2025), urging the public to remain on high alert.

“People need to be cautious as thunderstorms are forecast in several major cities, particularly in western Indonesia,” BMKG forecaster Wahyu Annisa said, as cited by antaranews.com

She explained that thunderstorm potential covers Pekanbaru, Jambi, Pangkalpinang, Bandar Lampung, Serang, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, and Mamuju. Moderate rain is expected in Padang, Nabire, Merauke, and Denpasar, while light rain may occur in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Medan, Makassar, and other cities. Overcast conditions are forecast in Banda Aceh, Surabaya, Kupang, and Manokwari.

BMKG advised communities, motorists, and authorities to anticipate possible disruptions, flooding, and lightning risks, and to monitor official updates as conditions may change rapidly.
