inp.polri.go.id - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) begins to use the AI technology to uncover drug ring syndicates. The Expert Group Coordinator of BNN, Ahwil Luthan, says the use of AI has become the focus of BNN and Indonesian National Police (INP).

According to Ahwil, the current generation of law enforcers must keep updated and smarter than the drug syndicate as the criminal organizations always seek the gap to distribute their illicit items to the society.

He highlights that the AI tech will be used to boost the efficiency in monitoring, detection and prevention of drug smuggling and distribution.

“Another use of the AI technology is to analyze data using the machine learning algorithm. Authorities can analyze drug distribution patterns and identify various vulnerable points that are swarmed with illegal activities,” explained Ahwil on Tuesday (15/10/2024).

AI tech can also process the fund transaction data and suspicious coms, making it easy to track down illegal drugs transactions.

“This is what makes having accurate data for the international drug rings important. The data is acquired through collaboration between countries,” concludes Ahwil.
