Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has eradicated approximately 20 hectares of cananbis fields in Aceh between January and October 2023. "Throughout 2023, there were eight locations we destroyed, scattered across Aceh Besar, Aceh Utara, and Nagan Raya, totaling around 18-20 hectares," said Acting Director of Narcotics at the Deputy for Eradication  Office at BNN, Senior Superintendent Guntur Aryo Tejo, in Aceh Besar, on Tuesday (3/10/2023). He  explained that the most recent destroyed one-hectare cannabis field at the peak of Mount Pulo, at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level, was ready for harvest of 15,000 cannabis plants with a total weight of approximately 7.5 tons. The discovery of the cannabis field was the result of cooperation between BNN and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) through the implementation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) activities. "We are still investigating the suspects, searching for the owners of the cannabis plants. We are seeking assistance from the Department of Agriculture and Forestry to determine whether the land is privately owned or state-owned," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
