Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. the Metro Jaya Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate has launched an investigation into a case of alleged medical malpractice at Kartika Husada Hospital that led to the death of a boy in Bekasi, West Java. The victim, identified as A, a seven-year-old boy, fell victim to what was believed to be a case of malpractice following a tonsillectomy operation at the hospital. "An investigation will be carried out to determine whether a crime occurred," said Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Safri Simanjuntak, on Tuesday (3/10/23) in Jakarta. The legal counsel for the patient's parents, Cahaya Christmanto, explained that they have implicated eight individuals, including the doctors  involved in the victim's surgery and the hospital director. "It relates to consumer protection laws," he said. The patient underwent the procedure in mid September, a procedure commonly leads to a routine recovery. However, tjhe patient failed to regain consciousness after the operation. Physicians at the Hospital declared that the patient suffered brain death on the third day after the surgery. He was declared deceased on Monday.
