Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo's abrupt disappearance following a foreign business trip has had no impact on the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said. KPK officials, including Ali Fikri, Head of the KPK Information Department, reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing the investigation. Although specific suspects in the corruption case have been identified by KPK investigators, their names have yet to be disclosed due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry. "We want to emphasize that we will ensure that all the investigative work in this case continues," he was quoted by antaranews.com on Tuesday (3/10/2023). The Minister's foreign journey began on September 24, 2023, when he departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Banten, en route to Rome, Italy, with a layover in Doha, Qatar. His anticipated return to Indonesia was set for September 30, 2023. However, as of October 1, 2023, Minister Limpo's whereabouts remained unknown, prompting concerns about his well-being and potential implications for the corruption investigation. The KPK conducted a search at the Minister's official residence in South Jakarta, on September 28, 2023. During the search, investigators confiscated substantial amounts of cash in both Indonesian rupiah and foreign currencies,  various financial records and documents related to asset transfers and the ongoing corruption case as well as 12 firearms, which were subsequently turned over to the Jakarta Metro Police for further examination. The corruption case falls under Article 12 (e) of Indonesia's Anti-Corruption Law, relating to extortion. This specific charge pertains to government officials or state representatives abusing their authority to unlawfully benefit themselves or others, often through coercion or illegal means.
