Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has set up a public kitchen to provide food supplies for thousands of residents affected by flash floods due to the overflow of the Didingga River in North Gorontalo, Gorontalo Province on 26 May 2026.
“The North Gorontalo Regional Disaster Management Agency, the military, the police, volunteers and local authorities have established a public kitchen and distributed food logistics to affected residents,” said Abdul Muhari, the Head of BNPB’s Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center, on Tuesday (2/6/2026)..
The emergency response was reinforced after the local administration declared a 30-day flood emergency status from 26 May 2026 to 24 June 2026. The disaster impacted five villages in Biau District, affecting 2,817 people. Three homes were swept away, 20 severely damaged, and 826 submerged.
BNPB reported floodwaters have receded, but thick mud and debris remain in residential areas, requiring ongoing cleanup and recovery efforts.
