inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and the European Union (EU) are strengthening cooperation to protect the public from the threat of terrorism in the digital space.

The Head of the BNPT, Commissioner General Eddy Hartono, explained that preventing terrorism is a top priority for the Indonesian government, one of which is ensuring that the digital space remains safe and is not used to spread violent ideologies.

"One of the government's latest steps is to open communication with the Roblox game platform operator to ensure compliance with government regulations," said the Head of the BNPT on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

He stated that the Ministry of Communication and Digital had summoned Roblox to comply with PP Tunas.

Moreover, BNPT was also present at the summons as the meeting with Roblox is a part of an effort to prevent terrorism.

On the same occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador to the EU, Andy Rachmianto, conveyed that the issue of terrorism in cyberspace is also a serious concern for the EU.

Therefore, he assessed that cooperation between Indonesia and the EU is highly strategic in facing increasingly complex global threats. 

"One of the issues of concern to the European Union is counterterrorism, particularly cyber terrorism," said Ambassador Andy.

He revealed that Indonesia and the European Union are currently finalizing the upgrade of their relationship from a regular partnership to a comprehensive partnership.

Within this framework, cooperation in the field of counterterrorism will be further strengthened, including in information exchange, capacity building, and public protection in the digital space.

The meeting between representatives of the two parties emphasized the importance of synergy between domestic efforts and international cooperation in countering the threat of terrorism. 

Through collaboration between Indonesia and the European Union, it is hoped that the public will be better protected from exposure to harmful content and become wiser in using digital technology.
