Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has warned of attempts by extremist groups to spread radical ideologies and recruit youth through online gaming platforms such as Roblox.
“There are systematic efforts by radical groups to reach young people through online games,” said BNPT Deputy for Prevention, Protection, and Deradicalization Major General. Sudaryanto on Thursday (9/10/2025).
He added that casual gaming can lure children into private WhatsApp or Telegram groups where intolerant and radical messages are shared, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Sudaryanto emphasized the critical role of parents, especially mothers, in monitoring children’s online activities, calling them the “first line of defense” against radicalization at home. He also reminded the public that while Indonesia has not experienced major terrorist attacks recently, the threat of radicalism remains persistent.
BNPT’s call was delivered during a National Dialogue in Padang, West Sumatra, attended by women leaders and lawmakers to strengthen tolerance and religious moderation in society.
