inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) expressed its support for the implementation of the free nutritious food program by contributing to ensuring the safety and quality of the food to be distributed.

Head of BPOM Taruna Ikrar said that in running this program, his party is cooperating and coordinating with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

“For distributing the food and others, that is the responsibility of the BGN, but for making sure the quality of the food is safe, that is the responsibility of BPOM,” says Ikrar on Friday (11/8/2024).

He explained that the cooperation between BPOM and BGN in the free nutritious food program covers three aspects. First, BPOM will contribute its competence in supporting the program, especially those related to food safety.

Second, BPOM will prepare the facilities needed to test the safety and quality of the food to be distributed.

"We have 80 technical implementation units and laboratories throughout Indonesia, equipped with advanced equipment, for food security," said Ikrar.

Third, BPOM will mobilize its human resources to assist BGN in supervising food safety and quality in this program.

"We will assign some of BPOM employees to the National Nutrition Agency. That is part of our commitment with the National Nutrition Agency. The point is we will play an active role in free nutritious food," said the Head of BPOM.
