inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Director of Food Consumption Diversification of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Rinna Syawal stated that the nutritional status and health of mothers and children greatly determine the quality of human resources, in order to support a healthy and productive generation in the future.
"Intake of meat, fish, eggs is important for preventing stunting. The nutritional status and health of mothers and children determine the quality of human resources," said Director Rinna on Friday (11/8/2024).
He said that the First 1000 Days of Life (HPK) period is the most important period for nutrition and health investment. Non-optimal nutrition fulfillment during the First 1000 Days of Life will have a negative impact on tissue and organ function disorders.
Therefore, Director Rinna continued, if pregnant women experience deficiencies or malnutrition during their pregnancy, for example experiencing a lack of certain nutrients such as protein and essential fatty acids as well as vitamins and minerals, it will have an impact on the growth and development of the child.
"Many studies state that a lack of essential fatty acids will have an impact on decreasing physical ability, productivity and immunity, and have an impact on mental development and intelligence. Likewise with protein and vitamin mineral deficiencies," explained Director Rinna.
She explained that meat, fish and eggs are sources of protein, as well as sources of essential fatty acids and minerals that are good for children's growth and development.
"Meat, fish and eggs have an important role in preventing stunting because of their high and balanced nutritional content," said Director Rinna.
