Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Denpasar Prosecutors have sought an 11-year prison sentence for a British citizen, Kial Garth Robinson, who was caught smuggling 1.3 kilograms of cocaine into Bali.
During the hearing at the Denpasar District Court on Thursday (5/2/2026), the prosecution also requested a fine of Rp1 billion, citing Robinson’s involvement in an international narcotics conspiracy. The 41-year-old was detained at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in September 2025 after arriving from Barcelona, Spain, according to antaranews.com.
"The defendant’s actions do not support the government's efforts to eradicate illicit narcotics trafficking," said Prosecutor Dipa Umbara, though he noted Robinson’s cooperative attitude and confession as mitigating factors.
The court heard that Robinson concealed the cocaine, weighing 1,321 grams net, inside the lining of a backpack. He confessed to acting as a courier for an individual named Santos, who promised a $5,000 cryptocurrency payment upon delivery. Robinson's legal team is scheduled to deliver a formal defense plea on February 12.
