Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Head of Data Center of The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), Abdul Muhari stated that the fine for the perpetrators of Bromo wildfire is still far less than the cost of helicopter water bombing. Officials have stated that the perpetrators of Bromo wildfire would be punished with 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rp1.5 billion. “About the Rp1.5 billion fines, I just want to say that the cost for water bombing for an hour have already cost us Rp200 million and it is still not done yet. As we can see in Arjuna Hill, the water bombing operation has been going on for four days,” said Abdul. Abdul also stated that 90% of wildfire is caused by humans, directly or indirectly. In peatland areas, the Environmental and Forestry Ministry has prepared its law enforcement. On the other hand, the Indonesian Military Force along with Indonesian National Police are now studying the cause of the wildfire to be further processed in law. Abdul stated this should be a strong reminder for all the importance of preventing and avoiding any activities that could cause wild fire due to its huge impact on economic and ecology. “Maybe we can handle economic loss, but ecologic loss requires a long time to be healed,” stressed Abdul. “So, let us protect our land together. Weather is not the cause of the problem, but it could be the catalyst for a bigger disaster,” implored Abdul.
