Riau Island Regional Police states that dozens of police members suffer injuries due to security operations in front of Batam BP office on Monday. “Due to these incident, 26 security personnel required medical aid,” said Riau Island Police spokesman, Grand Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad to media on Tuesday (9/12/2023). He explained that several injured personnel have to be immediately evacuated to the hospital with 12 of them are now being treated at Batam Bhayangkara Hospital. “10 injured personnel have been discharged home, with two observation patients. Furthermore, there are also eight personnel who were being observed medically on site, and 4 personnel of Civil service police Unit and two BP employee were evacuated to RSBP,” said Zahwani. It is worth noting that the chaos first ensued when an individual throwed a mineral bottle and others towards security personnel. Police then arrest 43 suspected provocateurs who brought various dangerous items during rally.
