Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. A passenger bus overturned at the Krapyak toll exit interchange in Semarang, Central Java, early Monday (22/12/2205), killing at least 15 people and injuring 19 others, authorities said.

The Cahaya Trans bus, carrying 34 passengers from Jatiasih, Bekasi, to Yogyakarta, crashed at around 12.30 am after reportedly speeding and losing control before hitting a road barrier and overturning. 

“All victims have been evacuated by the joint SAR team, with 15 fatalities confirmed and 19 passengers injured,” Semarang Search and Rescue Office head Budiono said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The evacuation involved police officers, state toll road operator Jasa Marga, the Indonesian Red Cross, and other agencies, as part of the Christmas and New Year emergency operation. The process was hampered by trapped victims and shattered glass inside the overturned bus.

All victims were taken to nearby hospitals, including Dr. Kariadi General Hospital and RSUD Dr. Adhyatma MPH Hospital. Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
