Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has arrested a man accused of stealing grounding cables from the Whoosh high-speed rail line in Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, West Java.
The theft was discovered during a routine patrol when security officers stopped a suspicious man carrying a sack filled with cables, a wrench, and a knife.
“If stolen, it not only causes material losses but can also endanger the safety and security of Whoosh operations,” KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said on Tuesday (16/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The incident occurred at the KM 114+300 point of the Padalarang route on29 August 2025.
Grounding cables, Eva explained, are critical components that channel lightning to the ground and protect electrical systems.
KCIC has handed the suspect and evidence to Padalarang Sub-regional Police for prosecution under the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum five-year prison term.
Eva confirmed operations remained unaffected, with immediate repairs restoring system safety.
