Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Canadian media reported that John Herdman has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indonesia men’s national football team, following weeks of speculation over leadership changes at Indonesian National Football Association (PSSI).
“The former Canada national team coach and Toronto FC head coach has been appointed as the new head coach of Indonesia’s men’s national team,” antaranews.com quoted canadiansoccerdaily.com on Sunday (28/12/2025).
The appointment reportedly comes after Indonesia failed to advance to the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Coach Herdman, who previously led Canada’s men’s and women’s teams, is said to replace Patrick Kluivert and may also oversee the Indonesia U-23 squad as part of a long-term strategy toward the 2030 World Cup. The report added that PSSI offered Herdman a monthly salary of around USD 40,000.
PSSI has yet to issue an official confirmation regarding the appointment.
