inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. During the long holiday, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area 1 Jakarta recorded that 7,153 customers took advantage of the Merdeka Promo fare. This Merdeka Promo is valid for special departures on August 17, 2025.
PT KAI Operational Area 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko, stated that the Merdeka Promo is a 20 percent discount. This is being offered to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
"Of that number, 5,862 customers are Long-Distance Train (KAJJ) passengers and 1,291 customers are Pangrango Local Train passengers, who booked between August 12 and 15, 2025. This Merdeka Promo provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy train travel at more affordable prices," he said, as reported by RRI on Monday (August 18, 2025).
In his statement, he explained that 128,000 tickets were sold during the long holiday. During the long holiday period from August 14 to 18, 2025, a total of 128,672 tickets were booked.
"In detail, 112,407 were passengers on the KAJJ and 16,265 were passengers on the Pangrango and Siliwangi local trains. Specifically for KAJJ, 34,792 passengers departed from Gambir Station, 48,207 from Pasar Senen Station, and 29,410 from other stations (Bekasi, Jatinegara, Cikarang, Karawang, and Cikampek)," he concluded.
