The General Election Commission of Central Jakarta empowering the disabled group to vote in the 2024 elections. “In this election, we aim to realize an election that warmly welcomes the disabled group, particularly here in Central Jakarta,” says the Head of Central Jakarta KPU branch, Efni Adniansyah quoted from Antara on Friday (11/24/2023). Central Jakarta KPU have set around 100-150 disabled to be listed in the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS). According to the data gathered by KPU, there are at least 7,032 vulnerable groups across 2,000 Voting Places (TPS). Moreover, Central Jakarta KPU will also print braille ballots to support the disabled in voting. During the voting, it was stated that there would be a guide for the disabled to help them in voting their preferred candidates. Moreover, the Voting Places will also meticulously design so that those who are on wheelchair will not experience any difficulty in getting to the voting booth. “This is part of our commitment in realizing an election that welcomes everyone including the disabled which have always been also our target,” says Efni.
