Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. In a rapid response to the flood crisis in several areas of East Trumon regency in South Aceh, the Aceh Regional Police have mobilized a significant number of personnel to assist in the evacuation of stranded residents on Friday (24/11/2023). Senior Superintendent Joko Krisdiyanto, the Head of South Aceh Police Public Relations Department, said: "Dozens of flood victims have been successfully evacuated. The operation involves personnel from the Mobile Brigade Company C from the Aceh Police, local police officers and officials from the Regional Disaster Management Agency of South Aceh". Several areas inĀ  East Trumon regency have been flooded by overflowing river water, submerging dozens of houses and reaching an estimated height of one meter, antaranews.com reported. "The evacuation became imperative as the residents could not bear to stay in their homes, especially with the possibility of further flooding. A significant number of the 47 evacuees are children," said the spokesperson. In addition to the evacuation efforts, he stressed that personnel on the ground are actively monitoring the flood-affected areas. "Residents affected by the floods who need to be evacuated are urged to immediately inform the personnel on the ground. The police are always ready to assist those affected by the floods," he added. Meanwhile, Superintendent Nova Suryandaru, Chief of the South Aceh Sub-Regional Police, reported ongoing communication and coordination efforts with various stakeholders to address the situation of flood-affected communities. "We express our concern for the difficult situation the community is facing due to the floods. We are striving to provide assistance as soon as possible to alleviate the burden of the flood-affected residents," said Chief Nova. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
