Central Java Regional Police reaffirm to the community that Indonesian Military Force (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP) would be neutral during the 2024 General Election. The Central Java Regional Police PR Chief, Grand Commissioner Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto explains that the two state security institutions are strictly forbidden to be involved in politics and required to stay neutral in safeguarding 2024 Elections. “Police neutrality has been regulated in Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning INP. In Article 28 paragraph (1) it was stated that Police has to stay neutral from any politic influence. Moreover, police also forbidden from getting involved with practical politics,” says Bayu. Bayu also adds that TNI neutrality is also regulated in Law Number 34 of 2024 concerning TNI. In Article 39, it is stressed that TNI soldiers are forbidden to be politic party member, or getting involved in practical politics, or chosen as legislative members and any other political positions. “We stressed that TNI and INP in Central Java are committed and ready to secure the stages of 2024 General Elections in neutral and professional according to the law,” says Bayu.
