Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. Chief of the Arfak Mountains Tribe Dominggus Mandacan called on West Papuans to maintain a conducive public order ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
"Hopefully, Christmas and New Year celebrations can be carried out safely, smoothly and orderly," he said on Saturday (23/12/2023).
According to him, the religious harmony in West Papua that has been established since long ago is the main capital in strengthening unity and integrity to support the development acceleration programs, antaranews.com reported.
West Papua Regional Police Operations Bureau Chief Senior Superintendent Erick Kadir Sully explained that Operation Lilin Mansinam 2023 involved 1,087 joint personnel from the Indonesian National Police, the Indonesian Military, the National Search and Rescue Body, and local administration.
"Of the total number of security personnel, as many as 327 personnel are members of the regional police," he said.
He explained that the personnel will be deployed to 530 security objects which include 340 churches, 52 tourist attractions, 53 New Year objects, 15 public transport terminals, 30 seaports, 13 airports, 57 shopping centres, 49 Operation Lilin posts, 20 security posts, 23 service posts, and six integrated posts to monitor the security during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
